My Philosophy on Change

I believe people can change. I’ve seen it in my practice for years. The past will affect the present until you slow down, understand where you’ve come from, and try new things. Then the past can blend into the background of your life, like threads in a tapestry.

You have a unique blueprint for how you see relationships, the world, and yourself. This blueprint formed in your earliest relationships. The lessons you learned when you were young — about your worth, relationships, and what is expected from you – stick with you. They can make you feel stuck, repeating familiar patterns like it’s Groundhog Day. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that change is possible.

Current science shows that therapy can permanently change your brain.  You can literally create new neural pathways. How? By understanding yourself and by forming relationships where change is possible.

Self-knowledge takes work, but it pays off.

It gives you a choice to respond to life rather than react. With choice, you can build a more successful life and better relationships.

Healthy relationships are like Miracle Grow for your life.

They help you grow and be yourself. Most of us need help creating relationships where various feelings and concerns can be expressed and worked through. These types of relationships provide support, satisfaction, and meaning to life.

Effective therapy is not about blaming your past or other people for your life. It’s about discovering how your past impacts you and using new strategies to have the satisfying, powerful life you want.

Change is possible. I can help.
